KARIMNAGAR: Nizamabad MP and AICC secretary Madhu Yashki Goud has said that the Telangana sentiment has further strengthened with the en masse resignations by the TRS elected representatives. Mr. Yashki was on a private visit to Karimnagar district and had a brief halt at R&B guest house on Thursday. In an informal chat with newsmen, he said that the Congress party would lose miserably if the separate Telangana state was not a reality before 2009 elections. He hoped that PCC president D. Srinivas, who was instrumental in forging an alliance with TRS and victory of Congress party in 2004 elections, would strive for achieving the Telangana state before 2009 elections. He said that the PCC president, a visionary, would convince the party high command and ensure Telangana state. Congress standReacting to a query, he said that the Congress party was clear on its stand on Telangana. “The problem is with some state party leaders, who are changing their stand and affecting the party image”, he pointed out. On the senior Congress leaders’ issue, he said that it was unfortunate that senior party leaders were making contradictory statements because of communication gap. He appealed to the senior leaders to remain silent and lead the Telangana statehood movement. To a question, he said that the BJP’s was double talk on Telangana. “The BJP contested the 2004 elections against the Telangana state by forging an alliance with TDP and now it is talking about the Telangana. If it was committed to Telangana, why it had not given written support for the formation of Telangana state to the Pranab Mukherjee committee”, he questioned. He clarified that the Rs. 2-a-kg rice scheme would not affect the Telangana sentiment. It is a social welfare scheme introduced at the behest of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. The development is different and formation of Telangana is different”, he said.
