Will ‘Rs. 2’ fetch a million votes?

At a time when Indian economy is growing at an unprecedented rate and income levels growing substantially what is the value of Rs. 2? Thanks to the increasing spending power and the inflation, it doesn’t even fetch a cup of tea. But the same Rs. 2 can fetch millions of votes and loads of media coverage and the politicians would vouch for it. The Rs. 2-a-kg rice scheme introduced by the government recently has done exactly that. But whether that Rs. 2 can fetch the m illions of votes that the government is eyeing remains to be seen!
