BANGALORE: A 38-year-old woman was murdered allegedly by her tenant near Basanapura village in Nelamangala police station limits on Thursday. Her body was found in a forest bush near the village. According to police, Sarojamma, a resident of Mallasandra in Peenya, had given her house in the same locality to Muniraju on rent. On Wednesday afternoon, she left the house by telling her ailing husband Ashwatnarayana that she was going to collect rent from Muniraju. Ashwatnarayana, a garment factory employee, got concerned when his wife did not return till night. He went to the jurisdictional Tavarekere police station and lodged a missing complaint. On Thursday morning passers-by found the body in a bush of a forest. The Nelamangala police said they found marks of strangulation, probably by a sari. Ashwatnarayana has alleged that Muniraju, an autorickshaw driver, has murdered his wife. The police have registered a case of murder and are searching for Muniraju. The body has been sent for autopsy, the police said. ManhandledA group of people manhandled a teacher of a polytechnic college in Channapatna for allegedly misbehaving with a student. According to Superintendent of Police, Ramanagara, T.G. Krishna Bhat, the people took the teacher to task. They relented only with the concerned officials came to the sport and assured of action. None from the group came forward to file a complaint with the police, he said. BurglaryA house of a software company employee was burgled in Appayya Garden near Ulsoor police station on Wednesday night. The burglars made away with cash and gold ornaments in all about Rs. 3 lakh. The police said Jagadeeshwari, working as an executive assistant in CGI Software Company, left to her office around 8 a.m. When she returned in the night she found that somebody had entered her house on the first floor and had taken away Rs. 2.5 lakh worth gold jewellery and Rs. 35,000 in cash. She filed a complaint with the Ulsoor police. In another case, the house of realtor Muniraju was burgled and Rs. 6 lakh worth gold ornaments taken away in Sahakari Nagar in Yelahanka police station limits. The police said the incident occurred when Muniraju’s wife had locked the house and had proceeded to her parent’s house nearby. Muniraju was not in the city. Neighbours, who found the house open, informed the police. ArrestedThe High Grounds police have arrested eight members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike in connection with causing disturbance at a function held at Taj West End on Tuesday night. The vedike activists damaged the stage and had brought down chairs and tables put up by a transport company that was launching radio-metered taxis in the city. The Banasawadi police arrested two persons allegedly involved in cases of stealing gold chains and a two-wheeler.
