Kakinada: Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose has reiterated the government’s commitment to alleviate the plight of farmers and exuded confidence that the modernisation of Godavari delta will give a fillip to the farm sector in East and West Godavari districts. Speaking at the Praja Patham programme at Tamarapalli village in K. Gangavaram mandal of the district on Friday, Mr. Bose said that the government introduced various schemes for the welfare of the poor and it was mainly the responsibility of officials to educate the beneficiaries to enable them to derive the intended benefits. The Rs. 2-a-kilo rice scheme was one such and aimed at extricating the poor from the food crisis. It was the collective duty of officials and people to prevent its misuse, the Minister said. The government was implementing various other schemes despite the burden imposed by them on the exchequer because it had genuine commitment for the well-being of the targeted sections, the Minister added. Call to officialsDistrict Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said that the officials should do their best for the success of various welfare schemes.
