This Day That Age
The Federal Party on April 11 called upon the Tamil-speaking people of Ceylon to enter upon a non-violent civil disobedience movement of the Gandhian pattern to secure an honourable place for themselves and their language. The party said that the Prime Minister Mr. Solomon Bandaranaike’s repudiation of his pact with the party on the “language issue” left the Tamil people no other choice but to struggle, or to be ever content to be a disgraceful subject race in this country. In the struggle, it said, “we will either survive or be destroyed. But in both cases our honour will remain.”
