RBI plea against misusing notes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appealed to the public not to use bank notes for making garlands, decorating places of worship and pandals and for showering on personalities during events.

The RBI in a press note, appealed to the public to respect the currency as it was the symbol of the Sovereign and misusing bank notes led to defacing and shortening of their life. The RBI further states that it had been taking measures to supply clean bank notes and urged the people to cooperate.
