Two drown in tank

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Two eighth standard students, B. Sri Harsha, 13, and T. Ashok Kumar, 12, drowned in ‘Dayyala Cheruvu’ (tank) off Padmalaya studio in Jubilee Hills on Thursday.

While the body of Harsha surfaced on Friday, police retrieved Kumar’s body later with the help of swimmers. The two boys were studying in A.P. Model High School. The two students, residents of BJR Nagar in Filmnagar, had left their homes along with friends on Thursday evening. They had gone to the tank located in Bharani layout. “Both the victims didn’t know swimming. They apparently entered the tank to play in the water but drowned after slipping into the shallow area,” Jubilee Hills SI V. Srinivas Reddy said. Friends of the two boys got scared and fled the spot. They did not reveal about drowning of their friends to anyone. Locals spotted the body of Harsha floating on Friday morning . As two pairs of clothes were found on the bank, the tank was searched and stumbled upon Kumar’s body.
