DINDIGUL: Pasumai FM 90.4, a community radio service, will launch its worldwide web radio ( www.pasumaifm.com) on its first anniversary celebrations scheduled for April 13. It will be available for three days following initial airing of each programme through Pasumai FM, to cater to Tamil people living in 15 countries. Briefing presspersons here on Saturday, station director J. Paul Baskar said most of the listeners would be Tamil migrant labourers, especially those in South Asian and Gulf countries, suffering at the hands of illegal migration agencies and tough employers owing to ignorance of their rights. Since many of them were illiterates, they found it difficult to liberate themselves from such agencies and employers. Awareness of rightsThe Internet radio would make them aware of their rights and help them in getting justice and liberation. “Our aim is to link the target communities with the outside world for infotainment and within themselves through edutainment.” With a listener base of over 15 lakh people, Pasumai FM had created awareness and developmental initiatives among rural people, particularly among the marginalised and the illiterate through effective interactions. Outstanding personalities, who worked for social change in the society in the district, would be honoured at the Sunday function.
