Chief Secretary moots the proposal during his visit TTDB to provide land, infrastructure for school BERHAMPUR: A residential school for physically challenged and children of socially repressed families would be opened up at the Tara Tarini hill shrine in Ganjam district. Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy made the proposal of establishment of this special institution during his visit to the hill shrine on Friday. Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) and chairman of the Tara Tarini Development Board (TTDB) Satyabrata Sahu, Ganjam Collector V.K.Pandian and office-bearers of the TTDB accompanied the Chief Secretary during his visit. Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Sahu informed that Mr. Tripathy had proposed this institute for physically challenged and socially repressed students to be a joint venture of the State Government and the TTDB. The State Government would provide finance for the institute through the Social Welfare Department. The TTDB would provide the land and necessary infrastructure for the institute. The institute would be managed by the TTDB. Mr Sahu was confident that they would be able to start this institute in next three months. The school would put extra emphasis on vocational training of the students as per their ability and skills along with imparting conventional education. It may be noted that the TTDB has been giving a major facelift to this major hill shrine of Orissa. A ropeway to the top of the hill is already functional. The TTDB is taking up all developmental works with funds collected from general public, said Mr Sahu. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also showed keen interest in this hill shrine as it falls under his constituency Hinjli. A large chunk of donations to the TTDB has also come from the people of Purushottampur block, which is part of Hinjli constituency. The facelift of the hill shrine includes erection of a complete new temple based on ancient temple architecture of Orissa. This Rekha style temple is being constructed under the supervision of noted sculptor Padma Bhusan Raghunath Mohapatra.
