Charge sheet against former RAW official

NEW DELHI: The CBI on Friday filed a charge sheet against Major General (retired) V.K. Singh and the publisher of his book “India’s External Intelligence — Secrets of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)” under the Official Secrets Act.

The agency filed the charge sheet against Major General Singh and Manas Publications accusing them of criminal conspiracy, misappropriation and disclosure of information prejudicial to the interests of the nation. The matter has been posted for hearing on April 17.

Meanwhile, a Tis Hazari court has allowed the application of the agency for in-camera hearing in the matter.

According to a CBI release, investigations into the case revealed that the former RAW official had in his book revealed the contents of the “secret” recommendations of the Group of Ministers on internal security given in 2001.
