NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Delhi Development Authority to demolish unauthorised constructions and encroachments on public land in several areas of East Delhi and West Delhi. A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice A.K. Sirki and Justice Rekha Sharma passed the direction on inspection reports submitted by the Court-appointed Commissioners of Shahdara (South) and Rohini Zones. The Rohni Zone Commissioner informed the Court that builders had encroached on several DDA plots in Begumpur, Deep Vihar, Lakhiram Enclave, Dhruv Enclave and Rama Park in West Delhi and were raising constructions on them. He said the authorities concerned were not taking action against the violators despite the violations being brought to their notice time and again. The Bench directed the DDA and the civic body to immediately remove the encroachments and demolish the illegal constructions.
