Modern cooking gadgets for 220 noon meal centres in Karur

38 centres to get Rs. 20,000 each, says Collector Venkatesh

KARUR: All 220 noon meal centres in Karur district would be upgraded with modern cooking gadgets including LPG and stove.

First phase

In the first phase, 38 centres have been sanctioned Rs. 20,000 each, according to Collector T.N. Venkatesh.

As part of the modernisation move, each centre would be provided four LPG cylinders, a stove, a cooking table, protection cement embankment, security deposit for LPG cylinders and other utilities that would amount to Rs. 20,000.

Centres in eight schools under Karur Municipality, 15 schools each in Karur and Thanthoni Panchayat Unions would be modernised at a total cost of Rs. 7.60 lakh.

Second phase

In the second phase, centres in 10 schools in Aravakurichi panchayat union, 15 each in K. Paramathi, Krishnarayapuram and Kadavur panchayat unions and 17 centres in Thogamalai panchayat union would be modernised, Collector added.

Mr. Venkatesh inspected the LPG stoves and other utilities here on Friday.

He directed the staff to make the best use of the facilities to serve the cause of children and students. Personal Assistant to Collector (Noon Meals) Marimuthu and other officials were present.
