Mop-up work starts in West Bengal
Krishnagar (West Bengal): Mop up operations started in West Bengal’s Nadia district on Saturday following completion of culling of chicken infected with H5N1 virus.
A total of 49,491 birds were culled and 5,153 eggs and 2,695 kg poultry feed were destroyed during the culling, District Magistrate Omkar Singh Meena said.
It took two more days to complete the job, which was first scheduled to be over in three days starting from April 6, due to errors in some papers, Mr. Meena said.
Health teams were keeping vigil on people of the areas where birds were culled. They were regularly checking the eight persons from Ranaghat who had fever, he said. — PTI
