Bangalore: Four men took away gold jewellery and cash from a person near the Vokkaligara Sangha School on Friday. The police said the four came in an autorickshaw and threatened Shivakumar, manager at a restaurant in Chandra Layout, at knifepoint and took away a gold chain, two gold rings, a watch, a mobile phone and Rs. 500. The incident occurred when Shivakumar was returning home after hitching a ride with his employer Yogesh near the Vokkaligara Sangha School around 12.30 a.m. on Friday. Kamakshipalya police have registered a case. In another incident, three persons allegedly assaulted a businessman by offering him a lift and robbed him of two gold chains, a gold ring and Rs. 200, on Thursday. The police said that Bovarlal, a resident of Nagasandra, had been to Yeshwanthpur to attend a marriage. On his way back, he was offered a lift to the 8th milestone by the driver of an autorickshaw which already had two passengers. The three occupants of the vehicle robbed Bovarlal and tossed him out near Rajagopalnagar and fled. Bovarlal with the help of the public reached the RMC Yard police station and lodged a complaint. TheftsBurglars made away with three mobile phones from a commercial establishment on Bellary Road after breaking open the rolling shutters on Friday. The police said the burglars assaulted Venkatesh, the watchman, and broke open the rolling shutters of Nikki Motors and made away with three mobile phones. Later, Venkatesh informed Kiran, the sales manager, who lodged a complaint with the Sadashivanagar police station. In another incident, burglars made away with 15 tonnes of iron worth Rs. 5 lakh at Tirumashettihalli in Hosakote police station limits on early on Friday. The police said the burglars tied the labourers who were asleep at the site, where a godown was being constructed, and escaped with the iron. The Hosakote police have registered a case. AccidentA 28-year-old died while he was been taken to the hospital after the hit a lorry on Hesargatta Road in Peenya Traffic police limits on Friday. The police said that Muniraj, a mine worker, resident of Donnenahalli in Hesargatta, hit the lorry which was parked on the road with a punctured tyre. Mr. Muniraj died while he was been shifted to a nearby private hospital. HeldA person who allegedly murdered his wife and made away with her gold jewellery, was arrested by the J.P. Nagar police on Friday. The police said that the accused Channappa (40) had allegedly murdered his wife Geetha (31) by strangulating her on the eve of Ugadi. The police said that a case of dowry harassment had been lodged against Channappa at Sriramapura police station in 2002. The police said that on a tip-off, the accused was arrested at Arsikere.
