ALAPPUZHA: This year’s Jaiji Peter Foundation gold medal for the best environmental activist will be presented to Periyar MalineekaranaVirudha Samithi (PMVS) researcher Purushan Eloor. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Foundation chairman P.O. Philip said Mr. Eloor was being presented with the medal for his relentless battle against the industrial pollution of the Periyar River. Mr. Eloor will be presented with a gold medal and citation at 2 p.m. on May 4 at the Alappuzha Jawahar Bal Bhavan. Coir and Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran will present the award while Alappuzha MLA K.C. Venugopal will deliver a memorial lecture on the occasion.
