Science quiz for school students

Thiruvananthapuram: Hindustan Latex Ltd., in association with the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology and Terumo Penpol Ltd., is organising competitions on science presentations and a science quiz at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology on May 9 as part of National Technology Day celebrations.

The student presentations should be on application of science and technology in innovative ways to improve the quality of our life with emphasis on the following: environment is not degraded further, or better yet, improved; do more with less, in a sustainable way such that our resources are not depleted; make available affordable health care for the common man, using less costly but effective, innovative methods using S&T; and by applying S&T, relegate more routine jobs to machines, thereby giving more leisure time to people to pursue intellectual activities, which machines cannot do.

The quiz is for high school and higher secondary school students. C.R. Soman, health expert, will be the quiz master.
