Was throttled to death, say police Victim’s son, servant still being interrogated Patna: Investigations suggest that the retired IAS officer found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence yesterday was “murdered”, a senior police official said on Saturday. The post-mortem conducted by a medical board of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) stated that V. N. Mishra was “throttled to death”, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Patna, Amit Kumar said. Prime suspectsMr. Mishra’s son Rahul and domestic help Kameshwar Sah, two prime suspects in the case, were still being interrogated, he said. V. N. Mishra, an IAS officer of 1972 batch, who retired from service in 1991 as Cane secretary, was found dead at his posh Boring Road residence in the State capital yesterday morning, Mr. Kumar said. Swaps from beneath the finger nails of his son and the domestic help had been taken for forensic analysis, SSP said. “We are conducting a detailed forensic examination and probing the case from all angles ...We will get to the root of the matter,” Mr. Kumar said. The police were also looking into the family dispute and estranged relations between the deceased and his son and daughter-in-law, sources said. Rahul and his wife were reportedly pressurising Mr. Mishra to transfer properties in Araria town to them which the retired IAS officer had refused, police sources said. -- PTI
