CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has assured assistance of his Government to the Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation (MMTC) in setting up a world-class medallion unit and refinery for bullion with a leading international company near Sohna in the State. This unit is expected to be operational by 2009-end. Festival of goldTalking to media persons shortly after inaugurating MMTC’s “Festival of Gold” exhibition at Hotel Mount View here over the weekend, Mr. Hooda said this unit would provide employment opportunities to people in the State. About the setting up of industrial units in backward areas of the State, he said about 70 development blocks had been declared backward and the Government was providing incentives for the industrial units being set up in these backward areas. MMTC appreciatedEarlier, inaugurating the four-day show, Mr. Hooda praised the MMTC for maintaining purity of gold and enabling the consumers to get a variety of tested and hallmarked jewellery. While going round the exhibition, he evinced a keen interest in the designs of some of the ornaments.
