Tirupati
sage advice: Minister G. Surya Rao interacting with prospective women entrepreneurs in Tirupati on Saturday. TIRUPATI: As part of its programme to motivate prospective entrepreneurs among Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to develop into full-fledged industrialists, the State government has set for itself a target of 5,000 in the first phase. A quota of 250 is earmarked to the Chittoor district under the programme for the current fiscal. This was informed here on Saturday by Minister for Small Scale and Khadi and Village Industries Gollapalli Suryarao, while participating as chief guest at a meet to create awareness among the prospective SC/ST entrepreneurs about the numerous schemes, openings, subsidies etc available for them in the department. The objective behind is to see that the SC/STs make forays into the industrial sector, at least small-scale industries to begin with, the Minister said. Listing out the schemes the government has launched for their benefit, Surya Rao cited the one under which it would stand guarantee to loans up to Rs.5 crore each. While the District Industries Centres would provide them all the logistics to set up their units, the State Finance Corporation would extend them loan facilities, the Minister said.
