Staff Reporter
PUDUKOTTAI: Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan will start its school here during the forthcoming academic year, the Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests, S. Regupathy, said.
Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Mr. Regupathy said that it would be temporarily housed in a government building opposite Muthulakshmi Reddy Memorial Government Hospital. A site to an extent of 10 acres had been identified near the Samathuvapuram where permanent building would be constructed.
Under the ‘Namakku Namae’ programme, seven works had been sanctioned on a total outlay of Rs. 22.75 lakh for Gandarvakottai, Pudukottai and Tiruvarankulam blocks. The works included construction of a community centre at Manganur; compound walls for schools in Perunkondan Viduthi and Tiruvarankulam; and provision of bus shelter at Ichchidi.
Earlier, he handed over a cheque for Rs.7.75 lakh, donated by the Karpaga Vinayagar Educational Trust towards the contribution of the public share for seven works sanctioned under the ‘Namakku Namey’ programme, to Collector D. Uthirakkumaran.
