Commissioner’s directive

Rourkela: In the wake of alleged harassment, torture and low payment to unorganised labours in Sundergarh district, the State Labour Commissioner has directed officials here to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

Labour Commissioner Ashwini Kumar Das, who reviewed the workers related issues with district labour officials here on Friday, has discussed the ways to ensure implementation of minimum wages, measures to curb industrial mishaps and child labour practices, official sources said. He has also met with representatives of local factory owners and directed them to implement labour rules to avoid unpleasant situation in their respective firms. He also issued instructions for not engaging workers in outdoor jobs between 11.30 am and 3.30 pm during summer. – PTI
