Dog days: A woman tries to shieldherself from the scorching heat as a man lifts his hand from the hot handle bar at a traffic stop near Raj Mahal square as heat wave like conditions prevailed in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. — BHUBANESWAR: Several parts of the State continued to experience high temperatures for the second consecutive day on Saturday. However, no death due to sunstroke had been recorded from any part of the State. The heat wave condition was likely to prevail over many parts of the State during the next 24 hours, an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre said. While Bhubaneswar recorded maximum day temperature of 39.6 degrees Celsius as against 40.2 degrees Celsius on Friday, Cuttack city experienced a rise over the previous day’s temperature. The city experienced a maximum day temperature of 40.6 degrees Celsius. The other towns that recorded similar heat wave conditions include Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Titilagarh. In case of Bhubaneswar, the weatherman said that the city and its surrounding areas were likely to have a partly cloudy sky on Sunday.
