Fight globalisation, employees told

VISAKHAPATNAM: Chairman of the Employees Coordination Committee-Visakhapatnam, P.V. Ramana, urged the State government employees to unite against the globalisation pointing out that privatization and liberalization had reduced the employment potential for average Indian drastically as the public sector units had to struggle for their survival or cut down the scale of their operations and many of them have even closed down. Speaking at the first seminar organized by the committee on Saturday on `globalisation and its impact on employees’, he said that earlier Indians were slaves of British empire but now of multinationals, backed by International Monetary Fund and other organizations.At present, the agricultural lands were being given away as special economic zones, which was very dangerous and caused food insecurity.

The district convener of the committee D.S.N. Murthy Raju spoke about the fundamental rules of the State Government employees such as payment allowances, leave, joining time etc.

President of state committee A. Appa Rao, general secretary of district pensioner’s association D.D. Prasad Rao and treasurer M. Buchi Babu attended.
