Government blaming everyone: BJP

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday criticised the government for blaming everyone and everything except itself for the rising inflation.

Party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told a press conference here that while Union Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal dismissed inflation as a global phenomenon, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad blamed traders for hoarding to help the spiralling prices move further upward.

Mr. Rudy noted that Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari had even blamed bird flu for the higher price of fish in West Bengal.

‘Hurts poorest the most’

Demanding a white paper on the “catastrophic rise in prices,” Mr. Rudy said inflation was the single most pressing problem faced by the people and “it hurts the poorest the most.”

He demanded an apology from Mr. Prasad as by blaming traders he had virtually described an entire community as corrupt. Apparently, Mr. Prasad had blamed traders and said this group was the traditional supporter of the BJP.

Mr. Rudy also criticised Mr. Prasad for the increase in freight charges for iron ore.
