Germany and Japan in final

Chennai: World Champion Germany and Japan will figure in the final of the third Olympic hockey qualifier at GIFU (Japan) on Sunday.

On the penultimate day on Saturday, Germany outclassed Poland for its fifth successive victory to finish on top of the table. Germany won 5-0 after leading 3-0 to take its tally to 15 points. Japan drew with Malaysia 3-3 to deny the latter a place in the final.

The drawn result brought Japan to second place with 10 points. Malaysia finished its league programme with eight points.

In the other match, Switzerland beat Italy 4-0 (2-0 at half-time).
