Bangalore: A task force constituted to check violation of poll code on Saturday stopped a public meeting organised illegally by a Congress leader on a public road at Vidyaranyanagar, which comes under Vijayanagar Assembly constituency. According to an official press release, Ravindra, a former city corporator, had organised the meeting in the guise of a “get-together.” The former Minister A. Krishnappa and other Congress leaders are said to have been present at the meeting. The event was organised without obtaining permission either from the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike or from election officer, the release said. A complaint in this regard has been registered at the Magadi Road police station. In another case, a task force removed buntings and banners put up illegally by the Congress during a public meeting organised at a ground in J.P Nagar. Though the party had obtained permission to organise the meeting, posters, banners and buntings were put up without permission, the release stated. Also, more than 20 buses were illegally used to transport people to attend the meeting.
