NEW DELHI: Two women, including a Vietnamese national, were injured when a fire broke out in a store room of a building in Mukherjee Nagar area here on Saturday. According to the police, the fire broke out on the ground floor of a house in Vijay Nagar around 11 a.m. causing serious burn injuries to Nguyen Tsuhue (33), staying on the first floor of the multi-storey building. Baby Rani, a resident of Manipur, injured both her legs and arms when she jumped from the second floor of the building to a neighbouring house. “When the fire broke out, Nguyen, who had come to Delhi a week ago, tried to rush out of the building via the staircase and sustained 60 per cent burns in the process. She has been admitted to LNJP Hospital and the Vietnamese Embassy has been informed about the incident,” said a senior police officer. Short circuit suspectedBaby Rani, an M.Phil. from Delhi School of Economics, jumped to a neighbouring building carrying her laptop and sustained injuries. She was taken to Vinayak Hospital and discharged later in the day. “A case of negligence has been registered. The exact cause of fire was not immediately known, but prima facie it appears to have been caused by a short-circuit,” said the police.
