362 persons held; action against 1,374 for drunk driving

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a city-wide combing operation held on Friday night the police arrested 235 persons accused of various crimes and 127, for whom there were arrest warrants. Legal action was initiated against 1,374 motorists for drunk driving and for rash and negligent driving.

Action was also initiated against 102 persons found in suspicious circumstances in the city.

The movements of about 19 persons who had served time for various offences were also checked during the operation led by the city police commissioner, a press note issued here said.

As many as 110 cases were registered in various police stations in the city, the press note added.
