Kochi: Congress leader and Union Defence Minister A.K. Antony on Saturday inaugurated the reception committee office of the forthcoming district conference of the Ernakulam District Congress Committee at Chaithanya, the party’s district headquarters. Inaugurating the office, he called upon the workers to work hard to wrest the lost seats in the Ernakulam district in the coming Parliamentary elections. He pointed out that Ernakulam district was once a stronghold of the party. But the last election results were very depressing for the party in the district. He said that the family meets organised by the Ernakulam District Committee had been emulated by other district committees. The coming Parliamentary elections would provide the workers an opportunity to regain the lost glory of the Congress in the district. Besides, it would be a test for the workers to prove their organisational skills. The working of the party in the district should inspire other district workers to follow suit. V.J. Paulose, Ernakulam District Congress Committee president, and K.V.Thomas MLA spoke.
