Tension after church demolition

KOCHI: Tesnion prevailed in the Kanjikkuzhy area of Idukki district on Saturday afternoon after a church was demolished in the area. According to the police, St. George’s Orthodox Syrian Church, formerly St. George’s Jacobite Syrian Church, was demolished apparently for building a new church in its place. However, the police received a complaint late in the evening against the demolition from one of the factions of the Malankara Church.

A police official said that there was no law and order problem. A decision would be taken on further action after the RDO arrived at the spot, said the police official.
