KOCHI: Teenagers can be a real handful. Trying to make a world of their own, their energies are sometimes wasted in being rebellious, finding fault with everything in life and sometimes picking up habits that may become a life-long concern. Parents too have problems dealing with such children. Some are too strict and some give in to every whim and fancy of their children — in the process not realising that their child is drifting away from the shelter of home. Addressing some of these issues the Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre will be conducting a workshop on Adolescent Health on April 25 and 26. A psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, paediatrician, diabetologist, a naturopath, a media person and an artist will be speaking and taking classes at the workshop. There will be talks on impact of visual media on children, general health of children and food habits. The diabetologist of the hospital will speak on the diabetes found in children and the fast food habits of teenager that is likely to cause harm. Parents will have an interactive session with the psychiatrist for answering their queries and children would be given classes on life skills during the workshop.
