Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has increased by 10 per cent the rates of water supplied by the Irrigation and Public Health department from April one this year. The notification regarding 10 per cent increase in the water charges supplied by the IPH department to various local bodies including Shimla Municipal Corproation (SMC) has been issued, an official spokesman said on Sunday. The charge would now be Rs.13.31 instead of Rs.12.10 per 1,000 litres while for SMC and Solan local bodies it would be Rs.9.68 instead of Rs.8.80 per 1,000 litres. The water supply rate to Palampur local body in Kangra district, would be Rs. 4.84 instead of Rs.4.40 per 1,000 litres. — PTI
