Fisherman goes missing

ALAPPUZHA: A 27-year-old fisherman has gone missing in the sea from near the Punnapra coast here on Sunday. According to the police, Baiju had gone for a first round of fishing at around 5 a.m. on Sunday and returned with his catch. After managing to sell off that, he set out for a second round. However, his boat was found floating in the sea around 500 metres from the Poomeenpozhi beach near Ambalapuzha around 9 a.m. Coast Guard and police officials were trying to trace Baiju, but had met with little success when reports last came in at 6.30 p.m. Baiju’s family, comprising his aged father Gopi, mother, wife Shalini and two children were sitting on the beach waiting for news on him.
