Two killed, four injured in accident

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A couple was killed and four others, including the deceased couples grand-daughter, seriously injured, when a speeding van rammed into four motorcycles at the Kaimanam junction, near Pappanamcode, on National Highway 47 on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as P. Sasidharan, 58, a retired KSEB employee, and his wife Vasantha, residents of Saju Bhavan, Aluvila, Nanthencode lane, Pappanamcode. Their granddaughter, Divya, 4, who sustained serious injuries in the mishap, has been admitted to Ward 2 of SAT Hospital.

According to the police, the accident took place around 1.10 p.m. Over-speeding by the van on the narrow stretch at one of the busy junctions on NH 47 resulted in the accident, police said.

The couple were returning home on a motorcycle along with Divya after attending a marriage at Enchakkal.
