DYFI slams Church action

Thiruvananthapuram: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has protested against the Orthodox Syrian Church’s action excommunicating Vimal Vavachan, husband of its Central Committee member K. Latha.

In a statement here on Sunday, DYFI State secretary T.V. Rajesh said that the action of the Church was an infringement of individual rights and a challenge to democratic society.

The two were legally married in 2006 at a public function as per their mutual consent, the DYFI leader said. — Special Correspondent
