Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Swarna Yuga Party, an outfit floated by the former MLA Mahima Patel, has been registered with the Election Commission. It has sought sanction for the use of maize plant as its symbol.

Mr. Patel released the second list of candidates for Legislative Assembly elections and said the party would contest in 30 constituencies. A few days ago, the party had released the first list of candidates.

Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, Mr. Patel, son of the former Chief Minister, the late J. H Patel, called upon the party candidates to strictly follow the model code of conduct.

The candidates for nine Assembly constituencies are: B.N. Ravindranath (Sagar); Nagana Gowda (Shiggavi); M. Kuberappa (Shimoga Rural); M. Shivas Gowda (Shikaripura); T. G. Chandrashekarappa (Shimoa city); S. Satish (Bhadravati), G. Shivanna (Molakalmuru); R. Madeshan (Nanjangud); and T. Sridhar (Maykonda).
