Two hospitalised after inhaling toxic gas

Staff Reporter

MALAPPURAM: Two youths who entered a cave to catch bats at Thachinganadam, near Manjeri, were hospitalised after they suffered breathing problems.

Doctors who examined them said they had inhaled some poisonous gas.

P. Baiju, 21, and P.P. Sumod, 18, had entered a cave at Thachinganadam Narimada on Saturday.

Their friend Raman too had accompanied them on their bat hunt, but he did not enter the cave.

Both of them came out of the cave tired, and had to be hospitalised after they fell unconscious.

The condition of Mr. Biju was said to be critical, doctors said.
