Kozhikode: The State Human Right Commission has filed a case against the Executive Engineer (PWD), Mananthavadi, and a priest of St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s Church in Mananthavadi in connection with an incident in which two youths were electrocuted on April 10. The tragedy happened while an arch was being erected for the consecrating ceremony of St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s Church. The youngsters who were electrocuted were Ozhakkodi Periyanthara Rajesh, 32, and Babeesh, 27. NGO submits caseThe case was filed by S. Varghese, Member of the State Human Right Commission, on the basis of a complaint submitted by Solidarity, an NGO in Mananthavadi, and Rajappan, the father of Rajesh, one of the victims. Seeks panel reportThe Commission has also sought the report of an expert committee appointed by the government to enquire into what has come to be known as the “Padinjarathara canal incident.” In this incident, two workers were buried alive while engaged in constructing the canal.
