HYDERABAD: “Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy is the biggest hero for the Congress and there is no need for us to rope in film stars to boost the prospects of the ruling party,” said the Government Chief Whip, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. “Dr. Reddy is a real life hero and does not need any greasepaint to take on the Opposition parties,” Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy said at a press conference here on Sunday in response to the Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s move to rope in his brothers-in-law to campaign for the party. Taking a dig at the TDP chief for depending on film stars like Nandamuri Balakrishna, Nandamuri Harikrishna, Junior NTR and Ramakrishna to take the party ahead in the coming days, the Chief Whip said people will throng their meetings in large numbers to see their favourite stars. “People have become clever enough and will not be carried away by their glamour and vote for the TDP,” he added. Naidu flayedHe said Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership qualities were thoroughly exposed as he had little confidence in himself. “Instead of leading the party from the front, he is forced to bank on his relatives to bring the TDP back to power,” he remarked. The APCC president D. Srinivas said that people will decide the fate of political parties but not the families. Reacting to Mr. Naidu’s bid to seek the support of film stars, he ridiculed the Opposition leader for trying to depend on glamour to improve the party’s image.
