Wax museum planned in Konkan

Pune: A wax museum, reminding one of the likes of Madame Tussauds in London, could become a tourist attraction along the scenic coastline of Konkan if the ambitious plans of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) materialises.

In a bid to augment tourism infrastructure along the State’s 720-km-long coastline to fully exploit its potential, the MTDC has invited Expression of Interest (EOI) from private sector entrepreneurs to undertake a wide variety of projects to attract tourists.

The deadline for submission of the EOI is April 30. The Konkan coast offers a plethora of tourism resources comprising pristine beaches, the mind-boggling bio-diversity of the Western Ghats, a distinctive cuisine, art and culture not fully supported by adequate tourism infrastructure.

With the latest initiative, aimed at encouraging Public-Private Partnership (PPP), the Corporation intends to address the current gaps in infrastructure within the districts of Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagir and Sindhudurg, D.B. Jadhav, Senior Manager, MTDC told PTI. — PTI
