Yuki loses

NEW DELHI: The top-seeded Yuki Bhambri lost to the eventual champion Peerakit Siributwong of Thailand 5-7, 5-7 in the semifinals of the Asian junior tennis championship which concluded at Indore on Saturday.

Yuki, however, had the consolation of making the doubles final as he and Liang-Chi of Chinese Taipei went down to the Chinese combination of Ze Zhang and Chuan Jiang.

Three other Indian boys — Karunuday Singh, Akash Wagh and Sudanwa Sitaram — lost in the quarterfinals.

Tough time

The Indian girls had a tough time as Tanvi Shah, Poojashree Venkatesh and Rashmi Teltumbe, along with the U.S.-based Kelsey Sundaram, could not cross the pre-quarterfinals.

The results (finals):

Boys: Singles: Peerakit Siributwong (Tha) bt Hiroki Moriya (Jpn) 6-2, 6-2; Doubles: Ze Zhang & Chuan Jiang (Chn) bt Liang-Chi Huang (Tpe) & Yuki Bhambri 6-3, 6-2.
