ALAPPUZHA: Defending champion Malappuram lost to Kottayam 53-63 in a Group ‘A’ league match of the 32nd State junior basketball championship at the Municipal Stadium here on Sunday. Thrissur, among the front-runners for the title here, marched to the boys’ quarterfinals after its second successive victory in Group ‘B’ while Kozhikode made the grade after winning both its matches in Group ’C’.
