No question of supporting Naidu, says Purandeswari

Staff Reporter

Hits out at TDP chief for wooing NTR’s family members

Union Minister says Naidu’s unit has not inherited TDP

Accuses Naidu of disbanding all the schemes of NTR

Purandeswari

GUNTUR: “The opportunistic politics of the Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu killed my father and I cannot support him politically even if my entire family goes behind him,” said Union Minister of State for Human Resources Daggubati Purandeswari here on Sunday. “My other family members must introspect before going ahead with taking a decision in favour of supporting Telugu Desam Party,” she said.

“It is true that there was a family meeting with Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, but none of the family members have come out publicly in his support, and I cannot speak for them on whether they should support TDP or not, it is left to their conscience,” she replied at a press conference to a question if she thinks they had done the right thing.

“I know how to draw a line between my professional and personal life. My contacts with my family will remain intact on personal/family front, but I will question supporting Mr. Naidu even within family if called for a discussion,” Ms. Purandeswari clarified.

Recalls humiliation

“I cannot forget the humiliation meted out to my father and how the Telugu Desam Party headed by Mr. Naidu disbanded all the welfare schemes and policies adopted by N.T. Rama Rao. This party has not inherited the NTR legacy.

My father would have survived for at least 10 more years, had it not been for the backstabbing by Mr. Naidu,” she claimed.

“Daggubati Venkateswara Rao supported Mr. Naidu despite my repeated warnings and pleas not to do so during those days, but he realised his folly and came back,” she observed when asked about her husb Accuses Naidu of disbanding all the schemes of NTRhas been clearly recorded in the last video in his lifetime and some journalists are also witness to the kind of words Mr. Naidu used against NTR,” she explained.

“Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has been implementing many of his (NTR’s) schemes and I have not done anything wrong in continuing in the Congress, which proposes to implement prohibition too in phases in the days to come,” she added.
