Art, culture training programme

TAMBARAM: A three-week-long training programme on art and culture for school students in Tambaram commenced at Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Selaiyur, recently.

Tourism Secretary I. Irai Anbu, inaugurated the programme.

A government press note said Jawahar Bala Bhavan of the Department was organising such camps for children between 5 and 16 years to tap their talent and creativity and train them on their special skills.

Children would be trained in playing the keyboard, drums and in other art forms such as bharatanatyam and folk dance, besides painting, handicraft, stitching, karate, gymnastics and ‘silambaattam’.

Students would be charged Rs.100 for the programme and talented students would get a chance to perform at national-level events which would be organised by Jawahar Bala Bhavan.
