What they say

M. Subramanian

M. Subramanian, Mayor:

The District Collector has provided the Corporation with a list of 4,168 hoardings to be removed and we have removed the vinyl covers. Most hoardings have been standing only because they were covered by stay orders from the Supreme Court. From Wednesday night, the Corporation, as well as private firms, has removed the scaffoldings of 700 hoardings.

We have 80 gas-cutters to remove the scaffoldings and 1,000 Corporation employees are involved in the drive. Very soon, Chennai will turn into a city free of hoardings.
