Action taken: Vinyl sheet of a hoarding being removed by the authorities of the Tirupur Corporation. TIRUPUR: The authorities of Tirupur Municipal Corporation have already begun removing the vinyl sheets of all unauthorised hoardings in the city following the Supreme Court verdict upholding the Tamil Nadu Government’s decision to remove unauthorised hoardings and billboards. However, there is no sign to remove the scaffoldings and girders of the hoardings on arterial roads. Though the work is under way for the last three days, the authorities say that they will intensify the work to remove the vinyl sheets on Monday. A senior official said that the local body had identified a total of 163 hoardings in the Corporation limits, of which 58 were unauthorised. The local body had removed all the unauthorised hoardings except the 30 on the railway land six months ago. As many as 105 hoardings were not removed at that time as they had got stay order from the Supreme Court. The official said that they would complete the removal of vinyl sheets on all the hoardings by Monday evening. He clarified that the local body had neither received advertisement charges nor licence fee for erecting the hoardings for the last three years. Those who got permission from the Coimbatore Collector to erect hoardings would be allowed to put vinyl sheets on the scaffolding and billboards after paying the charges to the local body. The scaffoldings and girders of the billboards would be removed only after receiving instructions from the Collector, he said.
