Policemen unhappy over action taken Protest withdrawn after IGP’s appeal KOLAR: Policemen in Kolar district went on a snap strike on Sunday protesting against the suspension of three senior police officers in the district, including Superintendent of Police H.S. Revanna. The Election Commission on Saturday suspended Mr. Revanna; Deputy Superintendent of Police Muni Reddy; and Ramesh, circle inspector, Rural Police Station, Kolar, on the charge of failure to enforce the model code of conduct. Protesting against the action, policemen throughout the district sported black badges and struck work. Hundreds of policemen gathered at the Deputy Commissioner’s office and raised slogans against Deputy Commissioner G. Ramachandra, who reportedly sent an adverse report against the police officials. The Deputy Commissioner is also the District Election Officer. Inspector-General of Police T. Doreswamy Nayak, who came to the spot, pacified the agitating policemen. Mr. Nayak advised the police personnel to withdraw the protest. He is learnt to have stated that the Superintendent of Police was not at fault and that the Director-General of Police was looking into the issue. Following Mr. Nayak’s appeal, the policemen withdrew their protest.
