Politicians rush to Thakkapalli

KARIMNAGAR: The politicians made a beeline for the Thakkapalli village of Kathalapur mandal on Sunday where eight labourers engaged in the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) were killed in a landslide on Saturday.
Minister for Roads and Buildings T. Jeevan Reddy visited the village on Sunday morning and inspected the accident spot and consoled the bereaved families.
He announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each to the bereaved families on behalf of State Government, Rs. 1 lakh on behalf of the Congress party, Rs. 50,000 under Apathbandu scheme besides free education to the children of the victims. He also announced a payment of Rs. 5,000 to the injured.
TDP district president L. Ramana along with his party leaders visited the village and consoled the families and announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 50,000 each on behalf of the party. TRS district president Etala Rajender and local leader Surabhi Bhum Rao and others visited the village and announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 50,000 each.
