“100% ration supplies in Tamil Nadu”

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu is at the forefront of supplying 100 per cent ration items to cardholders through the public distribution system, Food Minister E.V.Velu has said.

Participating in the World Consumers’ Day at Tiruvannamalai, he said it was the duty of cardholders to bring to the notice of officials whenever ration shop employees indulged in malpractice. The government was taking action against rice smugglers through the Civil Supplies CID Police. Cases were being registered under the Essential Commodities Act for speedy prosecution. Lorries carrying PDS rice were given a route chart that should be displayed prominently on vehicles.
