KOCHI: The Bengali community in the city had more than one reason to celebrate on Monday. As has been their custom for long now, they came together under the aegis of the Keral Banga Samskriti Sangh (the association of Bengali community) to celebrate Vishu with the denizens of their adopted city. Incidentally it also happened to be the Bengali New Year and the foundation day of the Keral Banga Samskriti Sangh, Ajoy Sen, general secretary of the association, said. The Bengali families converged at the Ravindra Bhavan at Kadavanthra in the evening marking the start of the celebrations. Whenever Bengalis come together for celebration, music cannot be far away. It was no different this time as recitation of Bengali poems and rendition of songs figured prominently in the cultural programmes organised for the occasion. To know more about the association contact: Nivit Purkayastha (9846043704), president of Keral Banga Samskriti Sangh, Atanu Banerjee (9387527089), vice-president, and Mr. Sen (9447715982).
